Significance of chhath puja 2022

On the day Kartik Shukla Shashthi, Chhath Puja, alias Sun Shashthi, is observed. This festival is celebrated six days after Diwali in the states of Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, and Jharkhand. On Chhath Puja, worshipping the Sun God and Chhathi maiya will bring you health, wealth, and happiness. In recent years, Chhath Pooja has taken on a new meaning as a folk celebration. As a result, the celebration is characterised by a great deal of pomp and spectacle.

During the Chhath Puja, the Sun God is honoured. The sun is a deity that everyone can see and who provides life to all living things on the planet. Chhathi Maiya is worshipped alongside the Sun God on this day. According to Vedic Astrology, Chhathi maiya or Chhathi mata protects and offers longevity to the descendants.

In Hinduism, Shashthi Devi is also known as Manas Brahma ji's Daughter. According to the Puranas, she is also the mother Katyayani, who is worshipped on Navratri on the Shashti date. Shashthi Devi is known as Chhath Maiya in Bihar-Jharkhand dialect.

How many days festival of chhath puja 2022 is celebrated?

Chhath Puja is a four-day traditional celebration in India. The celebration lasts four days, beginning with Kartik Shukla Chaturthi and ending with Kartik Shukla Saptami.

Nahay Khay (first day)

The first day of Chhath Puja is today. The house is cleansed after washing, and vegetarian cuisine is consumed to distract the mind from the spiteful proclivity.

Kharna (Second Day)

Kharna is the second day of Chhath Puja. A 24-hour fast is referred as kharna. The devotees aren’t allowed to drink even a single drop of water on this day. They can have fruits, gur ki kheer and ghee-rich chapati in the sunset.

Sandhya Arghya (Third Day)

On the third day of Chhath puja, during the Kartik Shukla Shashthi, an arghya is offered to the sun deity. After presenting an arghya to the sun with their family in the evening, worshippers decorate a bamboo basket with fruits, thekua, and rice laddus. During Arghya, the Sun God is worshipped from a soop filled with prasad, and the Chhathi Maiya is worshipped from a soop filled with prasad. After the Sun God is worshipped and the vrat katha is heard, Shashthi Devi songs are chanted at night.

Usha Arghya (Fourth Day)

On the morning of the last day of Chhath puja, an arghya is offered to the Sun God. On this day, worshippers must go to the riverside before sunrise to offer an arghya to the rising sun. After then, peace is sought by ensuring the child's safety from Chhathi maiya and the happiness of the entire family. After prayer, devotees sip sharbat and raw milk and eat a small amount of prasad to break their fast, known as paran or parana.

Rituals and cultural importance of chhath puja 2022

The ceremonies are performed over the course of four days. Holy bathing, fasting and abstaining from drinking water (vrata), standing in water, and offering prasad and arghya to the setting and rising sun are among them. Some devotees perform a prostration march as they approach the riverbanks.

Chhath Puja is a culturally and religious significant holiday. This is the only event where the Sun God is honoured and an arghya is offered. The Hindu faith places a strong emphasis on sun worship. Because he is the only God we can see on a regular basis, we can only see him. The world's soul is referred to as the Sun God in the Vedas. The sun's rays have the ability to kill a wide range of ailments. As a result of the sun's positive effect, the person gets health, prosperity, and self-confidence. In Vedic astrology, the sun is seen to be a factor of the soul, father, ancestor, respect, and high government duty. A person, children, pleasure, and desire are all fulfilled at the Chhath Puja by worshipping the Sun god and Shashti Maiya. The festival's main cultural feature is tradition's simplicity, as well as a desire for purity and the environment.

Chhath puja 2022 significance according to astrology

Even from a scientific and astrological standpoint, the Chhath festival is significant. The sixth tithi of the Kartik Shukla Paksha is a unique astronomical event that occurs when the sun is in the earth's southern hemisphere. The sun's UV radiation collects more than typical on the planet during this time. These hazardous rays have a direct impact on people's eyes, stomachs, and skin. The worship of the sun and the offering of an arghya to the sun during the Chhath puja should not cause harm to the person due to UV rays, hence Sun worship becomes more important.
